Logo Design
One of the things we realised we had to become, quite quickly, was good logo designers. Although some clients came to us with nice logos ready for use, where all we had to do was make them suitable for use on a web page, many didn’t. Creating a new logo often became part of the work.
With this in mind we thought we would share with you the process by which we create logo artwork for clients. Sometimes we present clients with several logos, depending on the style requested, while at other times we do one, present it, and see what the response is. In many ways we prefer to lead the design, prefering that the customer trusts us to create a suitable design. This allows us to put more creative energy into the design without increasing costs significantly. Three design samples will cost the same as one complete design with both colour and black and white versions.
The Logo Designs:

The client requested a logo for Innovation Technology Services Ltd - shortened usually to INNTS. After reviewing several possibilities we decided on a design based around the fibonacci curve - a mathematical design showing the golden ratio as found throughout nature - thus representing the work done by this company in science and the environment.
The circles, interconnected, represent innovation, and the ‘ts’ highlighted in a circle of its own helps to separate the ‘Innovation’ from the ‘Technology Services’ part of the company name. The logo was supplied in a scalable format, so the client can reproduce the logo at any size, and in any colour required depending on usage. |

This logo was designed to represent the scientific nature of a company specialising in metallurgical science.
The star formation is an abstraction of the scientific representation of a metal lattice. A Bauhaus typeface was chosen as the d and p letters resemble rolls of metal, thus relating to the company’s usefulness in foil processing. The tail of the ‘p’ then links down with the ‘l’ in consulting. Together the logo and typography work to promote the hdrp as modern, scientific, and dynamic. |
